Liposuction and the durability of its effects

Liposuction – the beginning of a lifestyle change

Liposuction is one of the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures. It is chosen by individuals who, despite the effort they have put into the entire weight loss process, are still not satisfied with the results. Among patients seeking liposuction are also those who want to quickly lose a few kilograms and shape their figure without excessive effort.

Liposuction is a good solution for removing unwanted fat tissue in \”difficult\” areas such as the thighs, flanks, abdomen, arms, or under the chin, but it should be remembered that liposuction is only the beginning of the journey to maintaining a slim figure.

Will the results of liposuction be permanent?

Patients often ask the doctor about how long the effects of liposuction will last. The answer is simple – yes, they will last a long time, but under certain conditions.

Primarily, this depends on changing one’s lifestyle to a hygienic, balanced, active one, with a well-balanced diet, adequate sleep, and, of course, as little stress as possible.

Liposuction can prove to be a \”magic wand,\” but only when combined with taking responsibility for changes in your life and putting effort into maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The decision to undergo liposuction should be the beginning of change.

Say goodbye to bad habits

Bad habits are behaviors that reduce comfort and joy in life. They often have a destructive impact on physical and mental health as well as social relationships.

One such habit is snacking at night or between meals on sweet or salty snacks. These often add unnecessary calories that accumulate in the flanks or other parts of the body. Poor nutrition and excessive intake of sweets in the diet lead to weight gain. It is worth examining this and making changes.

Lack of adequate sleep during nighttime hours is an increasing problem for modern people. Insufficient sleep for one’s age disrupts the circadian rhythm and proper functioning of the hormonal system, which in turn has further health consequences. In a study of 10,000 British people, scientists observed that those who sleep 5 hours or less per day are at nearly twice the risk of death. It has been proven that too little sleep can lead to: increased blood pressure, obesity, weight gain, higher risk of diabetes, weakened immunity, and increased risk of death from cardiovascular diseases such as heart attack and stroke. Each of us needs sleep at appropriate times, not so-called \”junk sleep.\” This is a reference to \”junk food,\” meaning low-quality fast food. Neither the length nor the quality of \”junk sleep\” is sufficient to restore strength. We need an adequate amount of sleep at the right times! Falling asleep at 3 a.m. will not regenerate our strength.

Before the liposuction procedure, take a look at your habits. Which do you think need to be changed? Which may negatively affect your health and slim figure?

Balanced diet before and after liposuction

An old saying goes: you are what you eat. So, consider what unnecessary items are in your diet. Before and after the procedure, it is necessary to abandon bad eating habits and ensure a balanced menu.

Liposuction is a surgical procedure, and before undergoing it, proper preparation of the body is essential so that recovery proceeds quickly and correctly. A well-balanced diet provides all the necessary vitamins, minerals, and nutrients. Maintaining electrolyte balance and improving circulation are very important to minimize the risk of bruising.

After liposuction

After liposuction, maintaining a healthy diet tailored individually to the patient’s needs is very important. Attention must be paid to what and how much we eat.

The diet should consist of complex carbohydrates, an appropriate amount of protein, healthy fats such as olive oil. The menu should include a variety of vegetables (rich in fiber), fruits, lean white meat, whole grain cereal products, and water. Simple carbohydrates like sugar, sweets, trans fats, excessive salt, alcohol, sweetened beverages, and those with high caffeine content, as well as highly processed products, should be avoided.

Frequent hydration is also important. Drinking enough water throughout the day helps control hunger, maintains a healthy metabolism, and supports digestionIdeally, we should drink at least 2 liters of water daily.

Full recovery after liposuction usually takes about 6-7 weeks.

The liposuction procedure should become an impulse for a permanent change in eating habits, thereby taking care of your health and maintaining balance of mind and body.

If you do not know how to properly lead a healthy lifestyle, how your training or daily physical activity should look, or what a proper diet entails, it is worth consulting a personal trainer, dietitian, or health coach. With their support, professionalism, knowledge, and experience, the effects of liposuction will last a long time.

Beware of lack of consistency

The goal of liposuction is to radically improve your body contours, reduce the number of kilograms, and shape your figure. But if you do not change your dietary behavior, do not rebuild your lifestyle to a more balanced one with an appropriate amount of physical activity, sufficient sleep, and mental well-being, you can still gain weight after liposuction. Returning to old, unhealthy eating habits threatens the effort invested in the liposuction procedure. Consistency in pursuing the goal is important for maintaining weight and a nice, slim figure.

We invite you to the Wilmed Clinic for liposuction. Here, in safe conditions and under the supervision of a specialist, you will lose kilograms and shape your figure. During the consultation, you will also learn how your diet should look before and after liposuction.
