In which areas of the body are liposuction procedures performed?
Body areas where liposuction helps eliminate excess fat
A slim, sculpted figure is a dream for many today. A balanced diet or weight loss diet, gym workouts, and outdoor activities are highly recommended to shed unwanted kilograms. However, sometimes despite our best efforts, it is difficult to get rid of unwanted fat in certain areas of the body. In such cases, liposuction can be used to contour the figure and help achieve spectacular results.
Liposuction as a minimally invasive procedure
Liposuction is a procedure within plastic surgery and aesthetic medicine. It is preceded by a consultation during which the patient and doctor discuss the procedure, the doctor checks for contraindications, and the expected goals and outcomes are established.
Liposuction involves precise and even disruption of fat tissue in the area chosen by the patient, followed by suctioning of the fat. The procedure is short, lasting about an hour, and is performed under general anesthesia. After the procedure, the patient can return home and should rest for several days.
Below we present the body areas where liposuction is most commonly performed.
Double chin
Taking care of facial appearance is a given. Many treatments are used to eliminate wrinkles. However, a common aesthetic concern is the double chin. With age, our skin loses much of its natural elasticity. These changes become visible in the lower face area, creating the so-called \”double chin.\” Other causes may include weight gain or genetics. Liposuction is a safe and effective way to reduce excess fat tissue located in the neck, chin, and jaw areas. It allows contouring of the jawline, elimination of the double chin, facial sculpting, and defining the jawline.
Arms, unwanted “bat wings”
Well-shaped arms allow wearing fashionable sleeveless clothes, especially in summer. Arms can age the entire silhouette for several reasons. The most common are: skin aging caused by decreased collagen and elastin, and excess fat. Unfortunately, excess fat on the arms can also be a concern for younger individuals. Sagging arms are also a result of sudden weight loss combined with lack of muscle strengthening. It is unlikely that stretched skin will naturally tighten on its own. The problem of sagging skin primarily affects women due to physiological factors.
Many women undertake efforts to \”fight\” sagging arms through exercises aimed at strengthening muscles in this area. However, despite many efforts, expected results may not appear, especially if the skin is significantly stretched and sagging. In such cases, aesthetic surgery can easily restore a nice, natural arm shape. Liposuction of the arms is worth considering.
Abdomen and waist
A flat, nicely contoured abdomen is a dream for many women and men. Unfortunately, this area tends to accumulate unwanted fat in the form of \”rolls,\” \”love handles,\” and other affectionate, though tearfully pronounced, diminutives. Fat here is deposited between the skin and fascia, and the body treats it as an investment for potential starvation. Abdominal fat can result from accumulation of subcutaneous fat and visceral fat. It accounts for about 15-20% of total body fat in men and 5-8% in women. With age, fat in this area increases, especially in postmenopausal women. Main causes of abdominal fat accumulation include improper diet, lack of physical activity, stress and hormonal imbalances, smoking, and high alcohol consumption, especially beer.
Abdominal fat is a difficult opponent to eliminate. Despite many exercises, diets, sacrifices, and changes in eating habits, it may persist and cause a range of complexes that lead to avoiding activities such as swimming, wearing bikinis on the beach, or choosing clothes one would like to wear.
Aesthetic medicine and plastic surgery have developed many methods to address abdominal fat. Abdominal liposuction is one of the most commonly performed aesthetic surgery procedures. Fat suction in this area is very popular as it is the most effective method for precise removal of unwanted fat and is a safe procedure. During liposuction, unwanted fat can be removed, waist circumference reduced, and an athletic, fit figure achieved. Abdominal liposuction can also be combined with other procedures such as skin tightening.
Thighs
For some women, the shape and size of their thighs are difficult to accept. Despite efforts in exercise and dietary sacrifices, the thighs often do not lose the fat stored there. Fat deposits most commonly occur on the inner or outer thighs. Genetics and genetic predisposition to accumulate large amounts of fat in the thighs, especially the upper part, are often responsible.
Experience and observation show that in such cases, the most effective way to precisely remove excess fat from the thighs is liposuction. This procedure guarantees improved leg appearance, making the thighs and thus the entire legs slim and shapely. It often also helps restore physical fitness that was previously limited by excess fat.
Liposuction is considered a very effective procedure for body contouring and fat removal. At Wilmed Clinic, we perform procedures on body areas selected by patients. Each procedure is preceded by a medical consultation to define the goal and scope. Liposuction at our clinic is performed by specialists who have helped women regain a beautiful, natural appearance and thus self-confidence for years.
