Areola Correction – What Is the Procedure?

The areolae, the area at the top of the breast, often influence the appearance and perception of the bust more than the size or shape of the breasts themselves. If they are too large, stretched, or asymmetrical, they disrupt the proportions of even the most beautiful bust. The solution to this problem is areola correction, which we perform at our Wilmed clinic in Warsaw.

In many cases, the areolae determine whether breasts are perceived as attractive. For some women, their enlargement is congenital, while for others, they become stretched due to prolonged breastfeeding or changes in body weight. Importantly, stretched or enlarged areolae can also be a problem for men – they are unaesthetic, disrupt the appearance of the chest, and can cause complexes and lowered self-esteem. Surgical areola correction, performed by specialists at our Wilmed clinic in Warsaw, offers help in such situations.

Areola Correction – What Does It Involve?

Areola correction requires prior consultation with a plastic surgery specialist. The doctor conducts an interview with the patient, excludes any contraindications (e.g., active infections, unstable chronic diseases), and plans the scope of the procedure.

The operation is usually performed under sedation or general anesthesia. During the procedure, the surgeon makes periareolar incisions in predetermined locations, removes excess tissue forming the areola, and shapes it to the desired size and form. Thanks to the experience and skills of our doctors, the sutures are small and placed so that they do not leave large, visible scars. Depending on the extent, the entire procedure lasts about 1 hour.

Areola Correction – Recovery

Immediately after the areola correction procedure and during the following days, pain may occur but can be effectively reduced by taking prescribed painkillers. Redness, swelling, and increased tenderness of the operated areas are also completely normal.

Sutures are removed about 14 days after the procedure, and normal activities can be resumed after approximately 21 days. However, it is recommended to refrain from physical exercise for about 6-8 weeks after the procedure. Of course, after full healing, special care must be taken to maintain hygiene of the operated areas.

We invite everyone interested in areola correction to the Wilmed clinic in Warsaw! We provide care from experienced specialists, full discretion, and the highest quality of care! Call or write to us to schedule a consultation -> https://en.wilmed.pl/contact/.
