A beautiful abdomen thanks to aesthetic surgery
Losing excess kilograms around the abdomen can be very difficult and time-consuming. The abdominal area readily stores fat tissue, and after weight loss, the skin in this area often becomes saggy, wrinkled, and frequently not as we would like to see and show in the bedroom, at the pool, or on the beach. However, the problem of unattractive abdominal skin is solvable. The solution is abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck surgery.
When to consider abdominoplasty?
Losing weight is an effort we undertake when we want to change something in our life and appearance. Let\’s assume that excess kilograms are a thing of the past we want to forget, but unfortunately, sagging skin that has not sufficiently tightened remains, loose and hanging. In this situation, one can start considering a visit to a specialist who performs plastic surgery and can advise on what to do. Removing excess skin on the abdomen allows getting rid of unnecessary tissue while simultaneously reducing the circumference and improving skin quality, especially if stretch marks are present.
Pregnancy is a condition that can bring a woman much happiness but also many kilograms, stretch marks on the skin, and changes in body shape. After childbirth, postpartum laxity and sagging of the abdominal wall often appear, frequently combined with stretch marks. This can cause much frustration and negatively affect well-being, impacting quality of life both at home and at work. To prevent this, one can undergo abdominoplasty. During the plastic surgery of the abdomen, fat tissue can be reduced and weakened abdominal muscles strengthened.
Abdominoplasty basics
It is important to know that abdominoplasty is a surgical procedure that requires preparation and consideration that after undergoing this procedure, time for recovery is needed, meaning rest and return to full fitness. Usually, this takes 4-6 weeks. During this time, it is necessary to follow the doctor\’s recommendations, rest, limit physical activity, and maintain a balanced diet that supports the healing of postoperative wounds. For the next 6 months after surgery, sunbathing should be avoided.
Before performing abdominoplasty, necessary laboratory tests must be done to determine if surgery is possible. Before the procedure, during consultation with a plastic surgeon, expected results are discussed, contraindications are excluded, and the general condition of the person wishing to undergo surgery is analyzed.
Contraindications to abdominoplasty include obesity, poor health, circulatory diseases, diabetes, kidney diseases, hypertension, and systemic connective tissue diseases.
The abdominoplasty procedure is performed under general anesthesia, and the surgeon selects the most beneficial surgical incisions for the patient. In selected cases, abdominoplasty can be combined with liposuction (large sagging abdomen with thick fat tissue) or laser liposuction.
The procedure lasts about 3 hours. Dressings are applied to the wounds, and an elastic compression garment is placed over the entire abdomen. The day after surgery, the patient can return home. Immediately after the procedure, pain in the operated area, swelling, and numbness occur, which subside over the following months. Abdominal pain lasts up to seven days, during which the patient takes oral painkillers. After surgery, a special elastic belt is applied, which should be worn for 4 to 6 weeks. Wearing the belt helps reduce swelling.
Two weeks after surgery, the patient can return to daily activities. The final effect of the procedure is assessed 6-12 months after the operation.
Like any other surgical procedure, abdominoplasty carries risks, which are discussed with the patient before surgery. Among the undesirable effects after surgery are hematomas, prolonged swelling, postoperative infections, hypertrophic scars, as well as partial necrosis of the abdominal skin, which requires further treatment. Serous fluid may accumulate under the abdominal wall for 1-6 months.
What does abdominoplasty provide?
Abdominoplasty is one of the aesthetic medicine procedures. Besides improving appearance, it also aims to help improve well-being if it has been affected by complexes related to body imperfections. After abdominoplasty, the silhouette significantly improves. This happens due to the flattening effect and proper abdominal tension.
Thanks to a pleasing appearance and feeling like the person one wants to be, well-being improves. Complexes no longer occupy the mind, and the time previously spent worrying about body imperfections can be used for more pleasant and useful thoughts.
