Prepare your skin for the arrival of spring

Although the weather outside constantly reminds us that there are still a few weeks left until spring, it is already worth preparing the skin for its arrival. Although dark and cloudy days do not inspire much optimism, they can be used to perform aesthetic dermatology treatments carried out by a specialist from the Wilmed Clinic.

One of the basic treatments in the field of aesthetic dermatology that can be performed in winter – that is, before the arrival of sunny, warm days – is the medical peel. It involves applying a special preparation with a strong exfoliating effect to the skin, usually containing fruit acids, vitamin A acid, or mandelic acid. The peel intensively exfoliates the upper layers of the epidermis and – depending on its intensity – can reach the dermis, which helps improve skin tone, refresh its appearance, and also reduce scars, wrinkles, acne lesions, or discolorations.

Of course, as with any aesthetic dermatology treatment, there are certain contraindications for medical peels. One of them is skin exposure to the sun, which is difficult to avoid, for example, in May or June. Therefore, the winter months – due to significantly reduced sunlight exposure – are ideal for undergoing the procedure, especially since the best results are achieved after a series of 4-6 treatments.

Skin photorejuvenation – a winter treatment

Another procedure for which the best time to perform is the winter months – allowing you to enjoy the effects in spring and summer – is skin photorejuvenation using an intense pulsed light source (IPL). This treatment is also performed at the Wilmed Clinic. It involves exposing the skin to a low-energy pulsed light source, which rejuvenates the skin of the face, neck, and décolletage, while simultaneously reducing acne, vascular, and structural skin changes, smoothing fine wrinkles, tightening enlarged pores, and eliminating discolorations. Importantly, IPL skin photorejuvenation is not performed during periods when the person will be exposed to intense sunlight. Similar to chemical peeling, a series of about 5 treatments is recommended. Therefore, it is worth scheduling an appointment with our aesthetic dermatology specialist now!
