Pain treatment

How to treat pain?

It is actually difficult to give a definitive answer to this question because pain treatment methods should be tailored individually to the patient. It is extremely important here to determine the type of pain, its intensity, and cause, but also to ensure appropriate support for oneself or loved ones. In professional clinics, this support is guaranteed. We have specialists in neurosurgery at our disposal, who specifically deal with the treatment of chronic pain. They possess extensive experience, knowledge, and the best equipment. The modern techniques and therapeutic procedures they use allow for very good results and significant improvement in quality of life.

One of the more interesting forms of pain treatment may be thermocoagulation (in English, radiofrequency ablation, RF ablation). This procedure is mainly used for lumbar spine pain but also shows high effectiveness in sacroiliac joint pain and trigeminal nerve pain treatment. Thermocoagulation involves damaging nerve structures by applying high temperature (around 80 degrees Celsius). For this purpose, a small electrode is placed in the immediate vicinity of the pain-conducting nerves, which emits the appropriate temperature using radio waves and heats the tissues. This action results in tissue destruction within a radius of a few millimeters. As a result, the nerves transmitting pain are neutralized, leading to relief and cessation of pain sensation. The thermocoagulation procedure is performed under local anesthesia with X-ray guidance. It lasts about 30 minutes and is minimally invasive. Its undeniable advantage is that it is safe and effective. Unlike long-term use of pharmacological agents, thermocoagulation does not cause permanent effects. Improvement after this procedure can last from several months to several years.
